  • Supply chain. The Chinese supply chain drives price parity with conventional EVs by 2032.
  • Infrastructure. Vietnam completes its 6G network and AI sensor grid across major urban zones by 2035.

The driverless EV becomes a normal household product across the full price spectrum. The steering wheel is replaced by voice command and home AI scheduling.

Exterior. Retains the silhouette of today's vehicles. The transition is invisible from outside.

Interior. The steering wheel is removed. Seats face each other. The cabin becomes a mobile living room.

Control. Voice command and home AI scheduling, integrated with household routines like any other appliance.

Product framing. The car is sold as recovered hours returned to the family.

The case for 2035 rests on three tests.

01 · Foundation
The technology already exists in 2026.

Waymo runs commercial L4 robotaxis. Xpeng has begun mass-producing the GX robotaxi. Tesla FSD operates at near-L4. Every piece is already operational.

02 · Need
The human need is concrete.

A dual-income parent in a Vietnamese city loses two to three hours daily to school runs and errands. The product returns those hours to the family.

03 · Plan
Each intermediate step is verifiable.

2028 type approval in China. 2030 EU, US and China converge on liability. 2032 price parity with conventional EVs. 2035 Vietnam's 6G grid achieves coverage.

Ten years after Level 1,
three enablers mature together.

  • Solid-state batteries. The 2030s generation delivers energy density sufficient for continuous personal hover.
  • Drone industry and aerospace EDF. Electric ducted fans reach the size, cost and power range required at personal scale.
  • AI-driven manufacturing. Mass production with adaptive quality control brings unit cost into reach.

The wheel
is removed.

The vehicle hovers a few tens of centimetres above any surface, inside the ground-effect regime. Wheels, axles and road retrofits all become unnecessary.

The wheel-less electric vehicle operates on a distributed array of small electric ducted fans.

Hover height. Approximately 30 centimetres, inside the ground-effect regime, reducing required lift power by roughly a third.

Surface. All road types are treated equally — paved, unpaved, flooded or broken. The public road remains in its current form.

Wear. Tyres, brake pads and drive shafts are eliminated. Service intervals lengthen and life cycle extends.

Product framing. Sold as freedom from the road surface. Monsoon flooding becomes irrelevant to mobility.

The case for 2045 emerges from three converging trajectories.

01 · Foundation
Hovercraft and drone fans are mature.

Saunders-Roe SR.N4 carried two million passengers a year from 1968 to 2000. Griffon Hoverwork ships commercial today. The drone industry has scaled electric ducted fans to personal range.

02 · Need
Vietnam floods every monsoon.

Every rainy season, motorbikes stall in submerged streets and cars die in flooded intersections. Terrain freedom is a daily-life requirement rather than a luxury feature.

03 · Plan
A decade of staged scale-up.

2026 to 2032 drone-fan scale-up. Early 2030s solid-state battery mass production. Mid-2030s premium Vietnamese product. Late 2040s mass adoption.

Licensing millions of amateur pilots for a three-dimensional vehicle exceeds population-scale capacity. The autonomous brain built in Level 1 makes mass diffusion of Level 2 achievable.

Energy threshold

The 2030s solid-state battery is exactly large enough for Level 2 inside ground effect. Free flight above ground effect demands the next generation of batteries — beyond the reach of 2045.

The driver is removed by 2035. The wheel is removed by 2045. By 2055, the ground itself becomes the next constraint, and Vietnam emerges as the first country to design the flying motorbike.
